Rajya Sabha Seat : Turmoil In Congress; Don’t Hand Seat To Allies, Says K. Muraleedharan

Thiruvananthapuram : Arguments heat up in Congress surrounding Rajya Sabha seat. K. Muraleedharan  hit the scene  saying “Don’t consider Assembly election losers for RS seat.” Youth Congress president Shaji Parambil added his own stand. Rajya Sabha was not retirement space, said Shaji Parambil,  implying CMP’s recommendation for CP John would go  into the  thrash-bin.

Indications are,  AK Antony, vacating  his post, will  push for recent entrant Cherian Philip, in which case,   self-styled Antony successor, MM Hassan,  will get dumped. Congress is  wary if Muslim League will raise pitch for a seat or  pressure for elating CP John. Muraleedharan’s aim is  directed toward thwarting that dimension.  Should arguments escalate, leaders worry, there might occur  a sway back for Antony. VD Balaram, Shanimol Usman and  M Liju  too are actively in the fray. Younger leaders prepare to urge AICC to weed out the  elderly lot.

In the meantime, KV Thomas who gave up on his Lok Sabha seat is adamant for  RS seat in return and Cherian Philip says  secret assurance from AK Antony for the Upper House seat is just the reason for his re-coming. . Youth Congress is on verge of snapping with KV Thmoas and MM Hassan pulling strings actively for the RS seat.

KPCC leadership meanwhile is set to face  challenge should AK Antony and the A-I groups decide to move untied. Such an axis could prove threatening to KC Venugopal as well. Will Antony payback for having sat him idle in Delhi, only time will tell.

With  game in full swing for the Rajya Sabha seat, DCC reorganisation  has slipped  into uncertainty once again.
