Weeklong Onam Celebration Kickstarts In Vibrant Colours

Thiruvananthapuram : After a 2-year hiatus, the jubilation of Onam festival rolls out once again in full swing. Amidst festive fervour of a packed audience, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan lighted the traditional lamp at Nishagandhi auditorium, marking the onset to state festivities

After a period of Covid and natural disasters, Onam brings in opportunity for celebrations, said CM. The state faced massive floods in 2018 and torrential rains of 2019 made matters worse. Then, in its wake came the dreadful Covid pandemic. And though we’re not entirely free from anxiety, celebratory conditions do prevail. The weather conditions are worrisome. Still, may each be able to revel the pomp and grandeur of the festival. Onam greetings to all, said CM concluding the inaugural.

Tourism Minister PA Mohammed Riyaz presided over the function. Actors Dulkar Salman and Aparna Balamurali were chief guests. CM presented them with souvenirs. Ministers V Sivankutty, Antony Raju, GR Anil; Others in attendance were MPs Shashi Tharoor and AA Raheem; MLAs  Kadakampally Surendran, IB Satheesan and VK Prashant; District Panchayat President D Suresh Kumar, KR. KSReena, KS Sreenivasan and PB Nooh.
