Thodupuzha : Reacting to the court sentencing of 6 accused in hand-chopping case, Prof. TJ Joseph said the real culprits are those that took decision for the crime. Punishment does not bring justice to the victim; the main accused is still absconding, said TJ. Joseph. He was refering to 1st accused Savad from Perambavoor who is on the run and has a bounty of Rs. 10 lakhs to his head.
I am not enthused about on punishment delivered to the accused. These people are victims themselves - victims of distorted faith. I don’t believe punishment to culprits is justice for victims. I only see it as an implementation of the country’s justice system. I have nothing for or against in punishments handed out to them or otherwise, said TJ Joseph.
It is time that all humans in this world embrace scientific approach and become modern citizens rooted in humanness and brotherhood. May the pain I suffered and hardships caused to those who inflicted the pain make the new generation a scientifically aware one, said TJ Joseph.
