THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : With Covid-19 infection threatening to overwhelm public health, the govt has announced social distancing measures that prohibit mass gatherings of any sort, said Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran. Certain post circulated on social media indicate a reception being organized by fans for a TV show personality in Attingal early this evening.This is not acceptable, the minister said.
Given the Corona pandemic, state police have been directed to stop any event that would have people flocking to a place, whatever the occasion might be, said the minister. Therefore, strict action shall be taken against those found violating the rule, he said.
Mankind today is faced with an invisible killer epidemic. Negligence on our part at individual level could pose grave risks to the society and to our own self. Vigil rather than panic is need of the hour, the minister reminded.
