Thiruvananthaupram : Resolving wildlife-human conflict is not solely within State purview, said Forest Minister AK Saseendran. A scientific study into the problem is necessary, the Minister said in the Assembly, adding that, the government does not in anyway take light view of the issue. The minister was replying to an urgent motion presented by Opposition on Wednesday.
MLA Sunny Joseph had moved the motion criticising government of insufficient measures against wildlife attacks. The Minister cited action and measures the government has taken on this front and also pointed to statutory limitations in this regard.
VD Satheesan however contented that minister’s reply sounded nothing in particular than admission to guilt. That said, Satheesan sought moving an adjournment motion - a bid the Speaker dismissed.
