Route Map Released Of 14-year-old Teen Who Died Of Nipah

Malappuram : The Health Department on Monday released route map of 14-year-old boy from Kozhikode who died of Nipah virus.

The revised map  shows all places the teen visited after coming into contact with virus and Health authorities asked all persons who might have been at these places at the time to report to the Nipah Control Room in the district.

The deceased child hails from Pandikkad in Malappuram and was in critical condition at Kozhikode Medical College where he breathed his last at 11:30 am following a cardiac arrest today at 10:50 am,  while on ventilator. The body was buried at Chembrassery Ottobatt Juma Masjid as per Nipah protocol.

Meanwhile, seven people considered high-risk on the deceased child’s contact list, tested negative for the virus. They include 6 of the child’s friends at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital and a Pandikkad native working at the hospital who did not have a direct interaction with the child.

Health Minister Veena George said there is no cause for panic and that preventive measures are in place. Preparation of child’s contact list is in progress which currently has 380 people of whom, 68 are health care workers. 101 people on the list are marked as highrisk. They will be sampled and tested.
