Thiruvananthapuram: Beneficiaries will receive Rs 3100 in social security pension this month - the sums of March and April combined. The advance is in view of Vishu and Easter holidays falling in April. Rs 1700 crore has been set aside for the twin payments.
60,16,384 people are eligible for the security pensions - 49,12,870 in the social security category and 11,03,514 as welfare fund beneficiaries. LDF government allocated Rs 35,058 crores for giving the people social security pensions while UDF had put away just Rs 9,011 in their tenure.
