RSS Tradition, One That Betrayed Freedom Struggle : CM

Thalasssery : The rulers  today are portraying  as  brave patriot and fighter a person who actually betrayed India's freedom struggle, said Chief Minister and Polit Bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan.

Savarkar,   described by the Sangh Parivar as brave hero -  got himself out of Andaman jail  following his relentless pleas to the British for  mercy. RSS played no role in the India’s freedom movement. To the contrary they would always be thinking of how to sabotage the struggle for independence. The Sangh Parivar leaders of those days openly declared  support for  the British and said  they had nothing against the the  Viceroy and that the British must remain here, said Pinarayi Vijayan, inaugurating the anniversary celebrations of Communist Party meeting of  Pinarayi Paraparam.

Communists played huge role in the national movement. It were communists who moved resolution for  “full independence” at the party Congress. Congress was not too acceptful of the idea initially,  but were eventually  forced to adopt the slogan. Government offensive against communists continued even after independence. AKG saw the dawn of independence from behind the bars. In times later, Congress unleashed brutal crackdown on the Communist party and even banned the party in an effort to put an end to its activities. In 1952, the Communist Party emerged as main opposition group  after questioning Congress during the elections, said  Pinarayi.

Congress and BJP are identical when it comes to policy decisions. Although they are two different parties their economic policies are the same and both approve of globalisation. As BJP goes about aggressively with its globalisation pursuits, the Congress is unable to dismiss it. Here, BJP is after all implementing the Congress policy.

A lot of anti-people moves followed once the globalisation and liberalisation policy came to be adopted. When Congress first went for globalisation, BJP had stood with it. BJP also backed Congress when it began sale of the public sector companies. BJP came into power owing to misgovernance of the Congress and the latter’s soft peddling of communalism.

Kerala does  not implement Centre’s policy all and sundry and is of  the view that public sector units must not go on sale.  The Kerala government has purchased Central PSUs put on sale. There have been two such instances. The Hindustan Newsprint in Kottayam, one such company, now fares as a competitive player in the market.

The Sangh Parivar is instigating unrest  and raise tensions in the country to promote its wrong kind of goals.  The Central spokespersons speak adamantly about implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act and they speak in the language of  threat and intimidation.  There is great deal of effort to break the country’s unity.

There is attempt to introduce a religion-based citizenship law and ironically in a country that has adopted a secular Constitution. The Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA) has upset a particular community in the country.  When the question rose in state if it were  possible to  live as legitimate citizens, Kerala took the stand that CAA shall not be implemented here. That came as huge relief to people here - a stand that rest of the country took note of. Many states followed suit.  Like the case of CAA, there is now attempt to impose States with Hindi.

The Centre is also mulling to dump the Employment Guarantee Scheme - one that provides respite  to scores of people. Certain funds pertaining to social welfare have been repealed while others have been significantly downsized.

People are grappling a lot of misery as a result of Centre’s policies. People in increasing numbers are taking  to protest and communal polarisation is being resorted to deviate public focus. As Sangh Parivar does all in its power to unleash communal hatred, the Centre provides just the backup it requires.

In a country where an ordinary farmer risks  confiscation of his property if he avails a meagre loan, the government has written off corporate loans worth 11 lakh crore rupees, said Pinarayi.  The loans of these biggies were written of saying “Oh these poor guys can’t afford to pay”.  This is what’s going on. The country is being pulled behind in time. Even basic infrastructure development is not up to the mark. India ranks 117  among the 121 countries on world hunger list.

The Centre's strategy is to  suffocate  the state financially. It now says, borrowings from KIIFB will be subject to borrowing limits.

The Centre can of course borrow to limits it wats wishes but the State should not. Some companies in the state are providing pensions. It is now being said, those companies will also be brought under borrowing limits. The whole aim is to prevent states from effective functioning, said Pinarayi.

One Union Minister airs the view that there is no need to provide social welfare pension. How disgusting this is! Ordinarily speaking, there should be thought on raising that pension a bit more. The  government is working on how to make that possible and the Union minister’s statement comes amid tht effort.  Kerala will not accept any of that.

There are thousands here who remain off starvation because of social welfare schemes the State offers. This government cannot push its people to the brink of starvation.

The Centre is making undemocratic interventions in the state. It’s approach is one that of destroying the federal system that exists in the country. The Centre is infringing on powers of the State. Laws are being brought in on issues handled by the State without any consultation with the latter. That  amounts to violation of the federal principles.

The Centre’s intervention in the field of education is deeply-conceived one. Ordinarily, education is a State subject - one that, if necessary, can be intervened with by the Centre. The Central plan now is to instill communal animosity in minds of children and the future generation. And, the school texts, curriculum and syllabus are being altered to suit this aim.

In several states, the Governors are interfering in the field of higher education. The aim is to saffronise the young generation and impose communal thought-process in them, said Pinarayi.
