Thiruvananthapuram : Reacting to ruling on Sabarimala pronounced by Supreme Court on Thursday, the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the govt awaits further clarity on the judgment.  Whatever the court’s intent, will be honoured,  Pinarayi told reporters.

The Supreme Court’s majority verdict today forwarded essential religious practices aspect to a Larger Bench, to arrive at a final judgement later. The ruling on Thursday, was delivered  by a five-member Constitution Bench headed by Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi. Two judges dissented.

Will the 5-member Bench decide on the issue after feedback from the 7-member Bench, or will the Larger Bench rehear the whole matter again, is not immediately clear, said the CM.

The present bench has not reserved or made alterations to Supreme Court’s earlier verdict on Sabarimala, the minister added.

Asked on govt stance should young women arrive at Sabarimala, the govt will decide after seeking legal opinion on the situation, Pinarayi said.
