Thiruvananthapuram : Saji Cherian returns as Cabinet member once again, taking oath as minister in a ceremony held today in Raj Bhavan 4 pm.
The Governor administered the oath of office. Present at the event were: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Speaker AN Shamseer, ministers, coalition party leaders and others.
The Chengannur MLA was minister for Fisheries, Culture and Youth Affairs in the current cabinet, and had stepped down following row over controversial remarks on the Constitution in his speech in Mallapally on 3 July.
The resignation on 6 July came purely on personal principle basis, given a case was registered in the matter against the minister. The High Court recently, turned down petitions seeking removal of Saji Cherian from MLA post. Also, the police petitioned for closure of case against Saji Cherian in Thiruvalla First Class Judicial Magistrate Court.
