Thiruvananthapuram; Samastha leaders met with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday to discuss concerns over losing reservation benefits. During the talks, CM assured that deserving candidates will not stand to lose reservation benefits, said Samastha leaders after the meeting.
The delegation was led by Samastha Kerala Jamiat-ul-Ulema General Secretary Prof. K Alikutty Musliyar. The government is firm on its stand on reservations however, if any deserving candidate stands to potentially lose his due, the situation would be scrutinised to restore the benefit, said CM.
Topics at the meeting ranged from clearing backlogs based on Narendra Commission and Paloli commission to making reservations proportionate to the population of a given backward community etc. Samastha leaders also expressed anxiety over raising legal age limit of marriage for girls and problems it would raise. They also urged CM and Health Minister to also consider allowing religious rites for those dying from covid. The Chief Minister assured that issues mentioned would be dealt with utmost empathy and favourable consideration.
Those in attendance at the meeting included Minister KT Jaleel, Samastha Reservation Protection Committee Chairman Dr. NAM Khader, General Convener Musthafah Munudpara, Samastha Manager K Modieen kutty.
