Thiruvananthapuram : The scheme framework is ready toward ensuring 20 lakh jobs over the next five years in state. The scheme, Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission, will fulfill employment dreams of the educated in Kerala. Knowledge Economy Mission has already begun canvassing for opinions in the scheme outline designed by K-DISC.The scheme will take its final form in the 3rd week of September.
The mammoth scheme will require funds to the tune of Rs 5600, of which 20 percent will be provided by the state government. Rs 200 crore will be paid for five years from now . Rs 300 has been set aside in the current budget for the purpose. The funds have been granted to K-DISC - the chief operating agency for the scheme. . Basic infrastructures will cost Rs 2245 crores. Rs 1140 will be spend on basic infrastructure and Rs 1105 on regional infrastructure.
KIIFB will arrange Rs 2000 crore to facilitate 'work from home' and 'work near home' jobs. It will channelise Rs 1500 crores through Asian Development Bank, World Bank and International Finance Corporation. The workforce set up by the Mission will be used to rake up Rs 2000-crore donations from the Social Responsibility Fund. It will be possible to levy a 2% facilitation fees on value addition generated via Knowledge Mission online. The revenue generated thus would be a permanent income for the Mission. A wide campaign titled “My job, my pride” shall be launched for the benefit of educated workers. Job surveys shall be carried out via Kudumbasree units.
45 Lakh Job Seekers
There are over 45 lakh educated job aspirants in the state, of whom, roughly 5 lakh have either lost their job or have given it up for some reason, The majority among them are women and 16 lakh have registered with the employment exchange.
