Seat Shortage in Malabar Tol Be Soon Resolved; 14 Addl. Batches in Malappuram: Min V. Sivankutty

Thiruvananthapuram : Immediate action is being worked out to resolve seat shortage in Plus I at Malabar, including that in Malappuram district, said Education Minister V. Sivankutty, speaking with media.  14 batches across States that lie vacant will be shifted  to Malappuram.  These will be included in the 1st  Allotment list.  Temporary batches for aided sector is also under consideration. The Director of Public Education will look into that and submit report, the minister said.

There are a total of 80,922 applicants in Malappuram. The seat structure figures as : 69,696 seats in Govt schools,  55,590 for aided, 11,286 Unaided and 2,820 in VHSE. The shortage is hence 11,226 seats. If unaided be left apart, there would be 22,512 vacant seats. Beside, 81 provisional batches have been included in the Main Allotment phase apart from 14 bathes being transferred to Malappuram.

There are 4,59,330 applicants for Plus I in State and 4,58,205  seats available in various streams. There are 3,70,590 seats in Govt schools and 54,585 in unaided and 33, 030 in VHSE.  The Main Allotment situation will be evaluated and additional batches allotted if necessary,  to ensure that all who have passed SSLC this year secure a seat, the minister told reporters.
