Kochi: The High Court on Friday granted anticipatory bail to Lakshadweep actor-director Aisha Sultana who was indicted on charges of sedition over her remarks in a channel interview. The order was delivered by single bench Justice Ashok Menon that had allowed a week of interim anticipatory bail earlier on 17th of June.

Aisha was summoned by  police in Kavaratti for questioning her on charges of sedition after which she had moved the High Court seeking anticipatory bail. The bail last week said if there be legitimate ground, the arrest of Aisha shall be only made only on record and she be released. It also said Aisha shall be questioned only in presence of her lawyer. The Kavaratti police thereafter summoned her to the station thrice and are now reportedly done with their questioning. Aisha is expected to return to Kochi shortly.
