Kochi :The Governor’s confrontation spree with the government has just had a setback, with the High Court on Friday citing  legal snags with his appointment of Vice Chancellor at KTU. The court said there were legal problems in the appointment and further held that the government’s argument in this matter had grounds.

The govt plea seeks to quash the appointment of Dr. Ciza Thomas – the joint director of Technical Education dept – as Vice Chancellor in charge of Technical University. The court suo motto impleaded UDC in the case.

Today’s ruling came from Justice Devan Ramachandran who instructed the Governor to submit affidavit in the case.

The Advocate General pointed out to court that VC appointment at Kerala Technical University(KTU) violated  academic parameters set for the post – an argument the Bench acknowledged. The court directed all respondents including Governor to submit their affidavits before Wednesday.

Detailed hearing of the case will be held Friday.
