Thiruvananthapuram : Monsoon intensifies in State. Districts of Kannur and Idukki are issued with Red Alert. All other districts except Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam are on Orange Alert. Collectors in Ernakulam, Kasaragod and Alappuzha have declared holiday for educational institutions in their respective districts. The IMD has forecast severe rains for the next five days.
Fisherfolks have been warned against taking to the seas. High alert has been advised to residents in hilly and coastal areas.
Falling tree damaged electricity poles in Thrissur, The incident took place around 3 am along Peringaon - Shornur Road, where a massive mango tree uprooted and plunged onto the road bringing traffic there to standstill.
The tree is being sawed out supervised by Veyur KSEB officials and the Ward Councilor. Electricity poles and overhead lines were crashed into by the tree.
In Thiruvananthapuram’s Mudalapuzha, a fishing boat capsized due to strong currents in the estuary around 6 am Tuesday morning. The men on the vessel managed to swim to safety.
