Thiruvananthapuram : As the state stands on war footing to combat Covid-19 pandemic, MLA K. M Shaji’s outburst against Chief Minister and the govt is at a level far below what public would expect of a political leader, said CPI(M) General Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
The people of Kerala are united in this difficult fight against the dreadful virus. The mitigation strategies, meticulous measures and relief efforts adopted by the Govt, the Chief Minister, has placed Kerala as a striking outlier on the world stage, in containing the virus amidst its population. Our state has been quoted as role model to follow across the country and now around the world. Such spectacular success became possible because govt could stand its communities as one to fend off the killer pandemic.
Tapping science and technology avenues is crucial to containing this pandemic as is being done in countries across the globe. This is why the state govt blended these capabilities into its mitigation efforts. Chief Minister has constantly divulged all efforts mobilised by State in this regard. And most unnecessarily, the Opposition comprising its ally leaders are spinning controversies with sole aim to shatter unity among public
KM Shaji’s claim that Chief Minister’s Disaster Fund is used to pay litigations is nonsensical. But then, for some with memory overhangs of UDF’s outrageous doings, it might be only natural to suspect everyone else of similar conduct.
The contributions toward CM’s Disaster Fund endorse people’s trust of the govt. And individuals like KM Shaji seek to break that trust so as to derail State fight against Covid. People, whatever the political lineages might be, should thwart such attempts and stay united to fight off the overhanging health crisis, urged Kodiyeri in his statement.
