ALAPPUZHA : Finance Minister Thomas Isaac, in a Press Conference on Thursday said, Kerala will approach the Supreme Court together with other states, if Centre refused to hand its share in GST revenue. The matter will be taken up at the upcoming GST Council before seeking legal procedures in this direction, Isaac told reporters in Alappuzha.
Arrears in GST to the state touched Rs 3200 crore this month, the minister said. While withholding the crucial revenue would soon plunge the state into deep crisis , the Centre is evasive on the topic.
The Centre’s only response in the matter is that a GST council will be convened soon. When states are thrown into crisis, ;the country’s overall economic growth rate will be hit and would decline further down from the present low of 4.5 percent.
The Centre is acting in disregard of the federal system. Even BJP ruled states oppose the Centre on this, said the minister.
