Vanchiyoor, THIRUVANANTHAPURAM :A complaint was lodged with Election Commmission on Monday against BJP leader  Shoba Surendran for her communally laced reference to LDF candidate and minister, Kadakampally Surendran. The complaint cited  violation of election code of conduct and  was filed by BS Saji residing at Saji Nivas, Karikkakum.

The incident in question. took place on 20th March during a BJP campaign meeting, where Shoba Surendran resorted to  unsavoury  comments. The event  was later  telecast on Malayala Manorama. In the speech, Shoba said there is no believer unaware that  Kadakampally descends as  “phoothana” -  the mythological demoness who tried to kill infant Lord Krishna. The fight at Kazhakootam is between believers and non-believers, she said at the meeting with Union Minister V Muraleedharan in attendance.

The complainant said, Shoba was trying to win votes by  character assassination in context of  Sabarimala issue. The complaint further states that instead of addressing politics or development, Shoba seeks to face election campaigning religion and faith.
