Thiruvananthapuram : SilverLine Detailed Project Report(DPR) was published on Assembly website Saturday. The report comprises 3773 pages. The project is slated to be commissioned in 2025 - 26. There would be nine coaches in one train with passenger capacity of 675 on a single journey
Special trains tailored to tourists would be run on private-public partnership arrangement. In the first phase connecting Nedumbassery airport, Roll On Roll Off(RORO) services will be installed on Konkan model for uploading of trucks.
The report contains six sections pertaining to Traffic Survey, Geo Technical Investigation Report, Topographic Survey abd si firtg, The report also contains list and pictures of structures that would be demolished for the project.
DPR also includes vegetation study of regions going under the project. An agency Sistra prepared the DPR for constructors, Kerala Rail Development Corporation Ltd. The project is titled Semi High-speed Corridor From Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod.
The rail-road services currently operating in Kerala is hugely inadequate to meet local population needs, says the report. Kerala lags behind by 30 to 40 percent on commutation speeds compared to neighbouring states, necessitating a project such as SilverLine, says the report.
As per report, the project will need a total of 1226.45 hectares, of which, 1074.19 hectares will be acquired from private individuals and govt will provide the 107.8. Remaining 44.28 hectares shall be acquired from Indian Railways.
