Thiruvananthapuram : The Keralites can never forget Lini, the nurse who’s ultimate sacrifice underscored a solemn message in patient care, at a time when State became gripped with fears of deadly Nipah, said Health Minister Veena George in her FB Post. Her life lends zeal to all the health workers fighting the dreadful Covid pandemic. Lini is a radiant memory in the frontlines of  war  against dreadful diseases, the minister said.

Context;
In May of 2018, when the deadly and hard-to-diagnose Nipah virus was detected in Kozhikode, Sister Lini Puthussrry stuck to her close care of an infected family of three at the Gvot.  Medical College there. She subsequently grew feverish from contracting the virus and as life ebbed away wrote a touching note to her husband ;.  “I don’t think I will be able to see you again. Sorry. Please raise our children well", . True to her fears, she could never meet with her family again owing the highly-contagious nature of the disease.    Her death on this day three years ago on 21 May 2018, has since remained a painful reminder of the sacrifices involved in healthcare givers' fight with deadly infections.
