THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Wednesday marked 2 years since a brief period when Malayalis, lived in fear of a deadly virus prior to Covid-19. In the pandemic overhanging now, it is impossible not to be remembering Lini who confronted the Nipha virus with outstanding courage, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Her life becomes more inspiring than ever in the times we are passing presently, the minister added.
It is two years now that Sister Lini had departed after putting up a brave battle with Nipha virus. Lini contracted the virus while caring for Nipha patients at Perumbra Taluk hospital. Her dedication towards caring for the infected made her a role model for health staff.
Lini’s remembrance day comes amid a time when the whole world is grappling with another dreadful virus - the Covid-19. Like Lini, thousands of healthcare workers on the front lines of the virus fight, are Kerala’s strength today. They play a crucial role in treating coronavirus and preventing its spread. Malayali healthcare workers are all over the globe combating Covid-19 pandemic.
The healthcare workers who at times get infected themselves, resume the very same care activities, soon after recovery, inspiring tremendous courage to the rest of us. It is at this juncture that the message Lini inspired becomes momentous. Lini’s life will lend courage to all of us in our fight against Covid, said CM.
