Kochi: Former IT Secretary M Sivasankar secures bail in dollar smuggling case filed against him. The bail was granted by Court for Economic Offences in Ernakulam. With this, Sivasankar does not need to spend any more time in jail.
The bail comes through after 98 days spent behind bars. In the courtroom today, Customs did not object to Sivasankar’s bail plea. The bail has been granted against two sureties and a bond of two lakh rupees.
Sivasankar had obtained bail earlier in the gold smuggling case registered by Customs and money laundering case filed by Enforcement Directorate. Kerala High court had granted bail in ED’s case alleging black money.
