Thiruvananthapuram : After a one-and-half year gap wedged by Covid, schools reopened across state on Kerala Piravi Day today. Children were welcomed with flowers, crown and toys by waiting teachers, whom Education Minister V. Sivankutty described as persons with mother’s heart.
The first day at school will see 35 lakh students in classes 1 to 7, Plus Iand Plus II. The figure represents one-third of the total students belonging to these grades. A total of over 6 lakh students from Class I and II showed at school on the first day, this morning – a number that is unprecedented in public school record and total to an addition of 27,000 more students in these two grades.compared to past 3 years. There are 3.05 lakh students belonging to Class I and 3.02 lakh in Class II. If attendance today across all classes be taken , there are 2,54,642 reporting today. 9.34,310 more students enrolled into schools since onset of public education campaign.
All disinfection and sanitisation activities at schools were completed in advance led by minister V. Sivankutty in efforts that were joined in by citizens without difference to their political leaning and by various govt departments.
Our society rises from above the Covid crisis and school reopening reflects a significant step in that direction, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
