Thiruvananthapuram : Remittance of two-month Social Security and Welfare Fund pensions begins today. Over 60 lakh beneficiaries will receive Rs 3200 each. The Finance Department has sanctioned rs 1762 crores toward this.
Rs 1550 crores would get disbursed as Social Security pensions and Rs 212 for pensions from various Welfare Fund Boards. Of the beneficiaries, 26.74 lakh people will receive their pension as direct credit into their bank accounts, while the rest will collect them from co-operative societies. Finance Minister KN Balagopal recommended completing all pension payments by the 23rd, well before Onam.
