Ponnani > The school level inaugurations of the comprehensive education project - Butterflies at Ponnani started on Saturday, 24th November, 2018. The Butterflies @Ponnani project includes 16 modules to improve the educational excellence of high school and higher secondary school students. The first phase of the project will run in 12 Government and aided schools in Ponnani. The first phase of inaugurations were conducted at AVHSS Ponnani, GHSS Thrikkav and MIHSS Girls Ponnani.
The project, envisioned by the Speaker, who is also the MLA of Ponnani constituency, shares the vision of the Public Education Rejuvenation Mission and aims to improve the educational standards of Ponnani schools to international levels.
Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan inaugurated the function. Ponnani Municipality Chairman Mr Mohammed Kunhi, Ponnani Municipality Education Standing Committee Chairman Mr Mohammed Basheer also addressed the audience comprised of parents, teachers and students.
The sixteen modules of the project are designed specifically for the curricular and extra curricular development of children. Many of the modules in the project addresses other stakeholders involved in the educational ecosystem - schools, parents and teachers, making Butterflies @Ponnani a comprehensive educational improvement project. Each modules can be further customised. Based on a research oriented feedback mechanism and after considering the infrastructure and resources, each school will be given a personalised plan to maximise learning outcomes.
The ultimate aim of the project is to give insight for children regarding the value of knowledge and how to use it properly in real life situations.The project will also focus on critical thinking, communication skills, scienctific temper, disaster management and future career guidance opportunities for students. The project will also do a feasibility study of implementing a science resource center in each of the participating schools involved in the project.
The first module to be implemented is the Digital Citizenship workshop. The importance of teaching children to be responsible online citizens was emphasised by the Speaker during his inaugural speech. The module is designed to redirect students towards the ethical usage of digital technology.
The workshop will look into the future by inculcating responsible online behavioral rules, laws and ethics and helps children to gather and process online information efficiently.
Along with improving digital ethics of the students, this module will also focus on improving the digital literacy of the students. This will also address adacemic concerns of the students by providing digital resources and online learning tools as well.
