Kochi : In a spine breaking price-hike of cooking gas , the centre has upped cost of commercial cylinder by Rs 266 at one go. With this, price of commercial LPG rose over Rs 2000 around the country.
In Delhi, the commercial cylinder cost climbed straight to Rs 2000.50 from Rs 1734 earlier. Retail price in Mumbai touched Rs 1950 and Kolkata now has commercial cylinder vending for Rs 2073.50. In Chennai, LPG price for commercial cylinder now stands at Rs 2133. In Kochi cylinder cost climbed to Rs 1994.
The steepest-ever single hike amid Deepavali celebrations spells a big blow to the public that is already reeling under unabated prise-rise of petrol and diesel. Petrol price around the country has currently crossed Rs 121 per litre.
Sporadic protests began countrywide almost immediately after the announcment of steep hike. Traffic disruptions and demonstrations are gaining momentum.
