New Delhi i : Supreme Court leaves to broader Bench the case challenging hijab ban in Karnataka’s educational institutions, after the two judges on Division Bench come up with opposite verdicts.
Justice Hemant Gupta ruled in favour of the ban citing that wearing of hijab was not mandatory in Islam. However, Justice Dhulia in his verdict said Karnataka had set a wrong precedent.
Coming from students and various organisations, there are a total of 25 petitions challenging Karnataka High Court verdict upholding the hijab ban.
