State Policing Now Transparent, Competent : CM

Web Desk‌Updated: Tuesday Feb 4, 2020

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The current government on coming to power, aimed to transform State policing into that which stands by people, is compassionate,  transparent, competent and serves the people, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in his reply to a  query submitted by Anoop Jacob in the House on Tuesday. The government adopted several measures towards greater police effectiveness, he added.

Sub Inspectors were appointed as Station House Officers across police stations. Incidents pertaining to law and order were segregated from those of criminal nature and assigned separately to different Sub Inspectors at station level. Police have been successful at using scientific methods to prove crimes in a number of cases, the minister said.

To increase the scope of this methodology, the govt proposes to open more divisions in the State.

In rural district of Ernakulam, 13 Police Stations in Muvattupuzha  have been brought under Muvattupuzha Sub Division.  Considering the population density there, the govt proposes to split Muvattupuzha Sub Division. For this, the govt is mulling to consult with the Centre  on plans for an added division, CM said.
