Study Tour Maximum 3 Days; Parental Consent Mandatory; Revised Guideline Released

Thiruvanananthapuram: The Education Department on Thursday released revised guidelines for school outings. As per the new guideline, all kind of study tours shall be limited to  maximum of three days and travels shall be avoided after 10 at night and before 5 in the morning. The new directions will apply to all schools in state including the CBSE and ICSE. The school authority and  teacher acting as convener shall be fully accountable for any school trip. Each time a trip is planned, a tour committee shall be formed comprising school parliament members, student   and PTA representatives.

Parental Consent Essential
Consent in writing is a must from parents for any study  tour. Persons representing parents too shall accompany the students. Remodeled vehicles should not be hired. Only permitted number of persons shall be on board of the tour vehicle. A report on the tour should be filed with the Regional Transport Officer(RTO)  and concerned police station. The teacher – student ratio shall be 1: 15 meaning there shall be 1 teacher assigned for every 15 students. Rules applicable to  the tour must be displayed on notice board. Prior to the tour, a meeting shall be convened of the parents in which all details of the tour shall be conveyed.
