New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Friday granted stay on High Court verdict disqualifying MLA A. Raja. The bail that comes with conditions is valid up to July when the case is slated for hearing.
The Stay allows Raja to participate in legislative proceedings. However, the MLA will not be entitled for salary or other benefits until the time the final verdict is pronounced. Also, Raja is restricted from voting in the Assembly.
The High Court had acknowledged the UDF candidate D Kumar’s argument that A. Raja had contested the Scheduled Caste seat by submitting falsified caste certificate.
