Kottarakkara : In a tragic event that played out in Kottarakkara Taluk hospital, a young lady doctor died of stabbing by a suspect brought into the facility for treatment. The victim is Kottayam native Dr. Vandana Das aged 23.
Puyapally native Sandeep has a record for scuffles, and was brought into the hospital for wounds that needed stitch-up. While dressing up the wound, the suspect suddenly grabbed the medical scissors and stabbed Vandana in the throat repeatedly. The stab ran deep and though immediately rushed to the hospital, the young doctor succumbed to her injury. Others around Sandeep at the time, including policemen, were stabbed too. Cops injured in the incident are : Alex, Baby Mohan, Manilal and Sandeep’s own cousin Binu - all of who remain in the hospital.
The accused is said to be a drug user and is a teacher of Nedumbana UP School. He was taken into custody by police following a physical fight in the are.
