Malappuram : Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan arrives in Thanur Monday morning where boat accident drowned to death at least 22. CM visited survivors undergoing treatment at Taluk hospital in Thirurangadi. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister Antony Raju. From the hospital, CM left for Parapanangadi to meet with families of the deceased.
Chief Minister is slated to attend an assessment meeting to be held at camp office of Minister V Abhu Rehman. Ministers currently at the camp are : PA Mohamed, V Abu Rehman, K Krishnankutty, AK Saseendaran and Ahmed Devarkovil.
The accident
Cruise boat carrying 35 passengers sank in the estuary close to Thooal Theeram at Ottumpuram in Tanur. 22 have died of drowning while 12 were rescured. The accident took place late Sunday evening around 7 pm.
