Above 60 or With Underlying Medical Conditions and Covid Frontline Workers Must Take Precautionary Dose

Thieruvananthapuram : The Covid assessment meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday instructed adminstering ofprecautionary Covid vaccine  for those aged above 60 or with underlying medical conditions and Covid frontline workers.

The Health Minister Veena George said 7000 tests per day are currently being done on an average in the state.  There have been 747 positive cases reported so far of whom 722 are hospitalised and 13 remain in ICU.

Oxygen production in adequate quantities is being executed.  Oxygen plants have been installed in all District hospitals. Kerala Medical Service Corporation has been directed to supply medicines, masks and PPE kits to match requirements. The Centre has been approached for adequate vaccine supplies.

The Covid Monitoring Cell bas been set operational once again. The Rapid Response team convened meeting and formulated guidelines.  IEC has strengthened awareness campaign, the minister said. The meeting observed that wearing masks would be optimum in public places, crowd and the varied forms of gathering.

The Chief Minister said the new virus variant is highly infectious and there should be caution and vigil . There is need to move with care.  Alongside Health, the Local Self-government Department too should exert caution. Covid guidelines handed by the Centre should be implemented to the tee, said CM.

The meeting was attended by Revenue Minsiter K Rajan, Local Self-government Minister MB Rajesh, Chief Secretary, State DGP and District Collectors.
