Vadakancheri : Tendering has been approved for Super Specialty Block at Thrissur Govt Medical College - a project the announced earlier by the LDF Government. KIIB in its last meeting lend nod for Rs 199.41 crore for the project. INKEL is the implementing agency and is tasked tol prepare design, draw estimates and solicit bids via tender.
A 8-storey block measuring 4,13,210 sq feet would be constructions and house 6 operation theaters including 4 transplant theaters, 126 ICU beds, 288 ward beds, Radio Diagnostics, Casualty, OP Dept, Procedure Room, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardio Thoracic, Holter Test, TEE, EMG/NCG, TMT Echo. Endoscopy, ESWL, ICU, Labs, Operation, Theatres, Bronchoscopy, Cystoscopy, ERCP, Dialysis, General Wards, Administration, Interventional Neurology, Transplant Operation Theatre, Classrooms, Isolation Rooms Future Development Area and Seminar Hall. Technical approval to the extent of Rs 169.24 crores has been received for the project. Funds remaining would be utilised for purchase of state-of-the-art equipment once the infrastructure is ready.
In a first, two mega projects at a Medical College are about to enter tender process at the same time. . A Rs 279 crore Mother and Child block was tendered a few days back. The construction phase of that block will take off soon as the tender processing is complete.
MLA Xavier Chttilapilly informed that a joint meeting of concerned authorities, officials, doctors and representatives of INKEL has been convened toward speeding up the project.
