Thiruvananthapuram : The tourism department has come out with an all-new project – the Caravan Tourism. Minister PA Muhammad Riyas announced the new launch.. All conveniences available at a tourist facility shall be arranged for inside the caravan. Each of these vehicles shall be equipped to tour up to four persons..
Caravan tourism is aimed to bring about overall development for the sector, the minister said. The project has been designed into two realms – caravan vehicle and caravan park. The project is designed to facilitate traveling by day and rest inside the vehicle itself during the night, the minister said, adding that, all conveniences that a tourist might need would be available within the caravan.
“Caravan tourism is part of the policy of coming up with a new product for the sector.. Houseboat tourism was a fairly new concept that came about in Kerala in the 1980s and remains a big attraction to this day. Caravan tourism is a similar concept in keeping with current times,” the minister said.
All arrangements shall be made for commencing Caravan tourism. Caravan parks shall be set up in public and private sector. Caravan tourism will be particularly important for camping, trekking and accessing locations that would otherwise remain beyond bounds, the minister said.
