KOCHI : Five trains are being dispatched today to ferry guest workers in state to their native places. The Express trains will take off from Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Aluva, Thirur and Ernakulam South.
The train, to take off at 2 pm from Thiruvananthapuram, is bound for Fathehpur in Jharkhand. Trains from Kozhikode too are headed for Jharkhand. Each train will carry up to 1,200 guest workers on the journey. Trains from Aluva and Thirur are destined for Bihar.
A train from Ernakulam South left for Bhubaneswar in Odisha on Friday - the first ever rail service for guest workers since lockdown. It carried around 1,152 people including school going children.
All lockdown guidelines have been conformed with in these travels, said officials. All facilities, including food have been arranged for, they added.
