Tribal Youth’s Murder : A Verdict That’s Relieving To Family and Public : Min K Radhakrishnan

Thiruvananthapuram : There has been justice to the  case relating to tribal youth Madhu’s murder, said Minister for the Welfare of Backward and Scheduled Communities., K Radhakrishnan.  With sentencing of the culprits tomorrow, the battle Madhu’s family fought with government by their side, will see final victory., the minister said.

This verdict is also result of the LDF government’s policy measures and measures, steps efforts, policy and stance against atrocities on the tribal community. This case might likely have been sabotaged, but for interventions  govt made to ensure the  culprits were  brought to justice. There should be  great vigil  to see such incidents don’t recur else happenings in several parts of the country would occur here too, the minister said.

The Crime: On 23 May, 2018 a gang of men from Mananthvadi village ganged up against Madhu,  a mentally unstable tribal youth. The assailants  bound his hands  and beat him up for what they said was stealing.  Madhu spent most of  his time in the forest and ventured to the village only ocassinally on lookout for some food. The brutal lynching of a marginalised tribal over picking  a pack of rice and some basic grocery, created shock and outrage across communities.
