Mattannur : Police arrested two RSS workers for attempted murder of a Student in Kannur’s Nellunni. Arrested by Mattanur police are, Nelluni native MV Visakh(31) and a native of Penncheri, V Jyotish(32). Jyotish, of whom Jyotish has a history of criminal records.
The incident occurred on 9th along Bavotipara road in Mattannur, That evening, Ajmal - a student of Mattanur’s Pazhassiraja from Thazhesheri, was returning from college around 5 pm on motorbike when the 3-member criminal gang followed him and kicked his bike to the ground and started to attack. At first, slashed him on the head using machete. Ajmal tried to protect his head and ran to a nearby house. The assailants inflicted a hack to his leg as he escaped.
He then went to Kannur AKG Hospital and sought treatment. Mattannur police registered a case. Two suspects, both RSS workers, were taken into during the course of investigations. The police team lead by Mattannrur Inspector KV Pramod, Principal Sub Inspector UK Jithin and Sub Inspector PP Ajith Kumar nabbed the duo after a short chase from their hideout in Nellunni. The bike used in the crime too was taken into custody.
When questioned, t he suspects first lied about actual location where they hid the weapons. As they interrogated more, Vaisakh disclosed the real place and police recovered the bloodied machete and an iron pipe wrapped in a cloth from near Jyotish’s house.
The third suspect remains at large. Visakh and Jyotish were produced in Mattannur court and remanded for 14 days. The police team arrest team also included ASI Kshemen, Rajneesh, Rajith and Pramod.
