Thiruvananthapuram : The gruesome crime perpetrated in Udaipur on Tuesday is shocking to human conscience, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. It is a reminder that communal fanaticism can erase the very last strain of goodness left in humans. It is a warning that the biggest challenge posed to the society today is growth of communal extremism. The incident also points finger to how Islamic terrorism becomes catalyst to Hindutva terrorism and vice versa.
This is the time for us to resolve that communal fanaticism shall not be tolerated in the name of whatever religion it passes. One religious extremism is not the answer to another religious extremism. Rather, all believers must unite in the realisation that secularism is truth.
Socio-religious organisation that believe in secularism have condemned the incident. One should raise voice against communalism. We must collectively pledge to not surrender our society to communal forces and that we shall protect peace, harmony and unity of our land, said CM.
