Thiruvananthapuram : With Supreme Court verdict ordering demolition of Palarivattom flyover, UDF now has one more scam stare it in the face. Although, the structure will now be razed down, the all-new bridge replacing it, will serve to be a long-lasting memorial of UDF’s corruptive regime.
Six ministers from the previous government including former chief minister face corruption charges. The probe against these leaders are in progress at varied stages with cases ranging from Pattoor Flats scam involving Oomen Chandy to the latest Palarivattom flyover saga. Three former ministers face probe for disproportionate assets while scams involving Oomen Chandy include solar case, Pattoor flats and Kadakampally land grab. Oomen Chandy also faces probe in Titanium corruption case handed over by current government to the CBI. Titanium case also indicts former PWD minister VK Ibrahim Kunj, who was Industries minister at that time.
Other Congress leaders facing corruption probes include PK Kunhalikutty, Adoor Prakash, K Babu and VS Sivakumar. Action against encroaching government land to construct flats in Pattoor were paused only on directions from the High Court. K Babu is arraigned in the bar bribery case apart from facing charges of illegal wealth acquisition for which, he is currently under trial at a court in Muvattupuzha. PK Kunhalikutty and Adoor Prakash face corruption charges for letting paddy fields to into the construction of Info Park in Ernakulam. The facts file on the case is now being examined by Vigilance ADGP. Adoor Prakash is also arraigned for granting title to land owned by Revenue department to private parties. The investigations into Adoor Prakash’s disproportionate wealth has now reached its final stage.
