Oppn Demand Boomerangs; Several Ministers While In Office Have Stood Trial

Kochi : UDF for a moment lost memory on its own history while demanding  resignation of Minister V Sivankutty citing Supreme Court refusal to quash trial of  Assembly protest case of 2015. According to the Opposition, V Sivankutty should tender resignation in the wake of  top court ruling that  all respondents in the case including the minister must face trial. Interestingly,  several of UDF ministers have undergone trial during their office terms.

In the Assembly session on 18 March of 2013 C. Divakaran had asked how many members of the Oomen Chandy government were undergoing trial. Names given out in reply by Oomen Chandy were : Excise Minister K Babu, Cooperation Minister CN Balagoalkrishnan, Revenue minister Adoor Prakash. KR Babu was indicted on charges of disrupting duty of a highway police,  CN Balakrishnan was arraigned for violating code of conduct on the election day and Adoor  Food and Civil Supplies minister stood trial for issuing wholesale ration license to a man without eligibility, Oomen Chandy had said in his reply.
