UDF Ousted In Chungathara Panchayat

Edakkara : UDF has just lost governance in Chungathara Panchayat after  the no-confidence motion moved against the President passed successfully Monday morning. With this,  the UDF president  Vatsamma Sebastin is no longer in charge.

In the 20-member panchayat, LDF and UDF shared equal no. of seats i.e. 10 each. On Monday, 11  members endorsed their backing for the no-confidence motion. 9 opposed the motion, they cast their votes though. Independent member Najunise from Ward 14 cast her vote favouring president’s ouster. The no-confidence motion came about during discussions on the polling day this morning.

Nlambur Block Development Officer AJ Santhosh oversaw the elections. Ten members from CPI(M) had served their signed notice for   no-confidence on 23 March. The panchayat committee comprises 10 CPI(M) members, 7 from Congress and 3 others including  Muslim League and Independents.
