Kerala Honoured For Its Effective Covid Mitigation Model; Health Minister Invited To Speak At UN Event

Thiruvananthapuram : Kerala became the only Indian state to have an invitee speaker at  UN’s Public Service Day, after the intergovernmental organisation honoured it for outstanding measures in the fight against Covid-19.  

The event, organized by UN Secretary General and General Assembly President, sought to acknowledge standout performers in the fight against the pandemic. Kerala’s Health Minister, KK Shailaja, who was invited to speak at the UN webinar, presented Kerala Model at the occasion.  

The honour is latest in the accolades from international forums and media for the state’s effective containment of Covid-19 spread.  

The event  drew on dignitaries from around the world. Speakers at the live video event included Secretary General of UN, Antonio Guterres; President of the General Assembly, Tijjani Muhammad Bande; President of Ethopia, HE Ms Sahle Wrok Zewde; Director General to WHO, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebryesus; UN Under Secretary-General For Economic and Scoial Affaris, Liu Zhenmin; Miniser of Interior and Safety , Republic of Korea, Chin Young; Deputy Minister of the Interior and Safety, Republic of Korea, Dr In-Jae-Lee; Director, Health Workforce department (SHO)), Jim Cambell; President of International Council of Nurses Annette Kennedy; and General Secretary, Public services International, Rosa Pavenelli.
