Union Budget - One For Corporates : CPI(M) To Conduct Statewide Protests Today

Web Desk‌Updated: Thursday Feb 6, 2020

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Extensive protests are set to  open out across Kerala on Thursday, to oppose the Centre’s  anti-people Budget 2020.  Thousands will join the demonstrations led-by CPI(M) to observe Protest Day in the State. Marches will be taken out targeting one Central Government Office in every district.

Inflation, and unemployment levels in the country have soared to unprecedented levels. The Budget  lend huge tax-cuts to corporate majors and seek to fill the fiscal deficit thereof with a spate of Public Sector Units sales. Privatising LIC is part of that strategy.

The Budgets holds no scheme or policy to rescue the agriculture sector that’s on the verge of collapse.  The new provision to tax NRI incomes too will have huge adverse impact on the State’s economy.

The Budget cut down Kerala’s share in Central funds. It no investments marked for expansion of Railways in State and the same goes for Kerala’s highway projects. Today’s protest march, that will convrge on GPO in Trivandrum, will be inaugurated by CPI(M) State Secretariat member Anathalavattom Anandan.
