Thiruvananthapuram The Union Minister’s visit to Kazhakuttam appears dubious, said CPI(M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. S Jaisankar is someone who never frequented Kerala before. Now he has arrived and is looking up State-executed development projects. It is good to be viewing development projects. However, there is ulterior motive to this, said Kodiyeri at the press conference on Friday.
The Centre never carried out projects it announced for the state. It has been unwilling to implement the Nemom terminal. The Centre is also quiet on the Palakkad coach factory it sanctioned. The Central Railway itself proclaimed Railway Medical College in state. That was so long ago, no one remembers it anymore. Scores of such promises remain unfulfilled. Amongst railway ventures, although the Thalassery Mysore railway and Nanjkode – Nilambur railway were promised, nothing came out of it.
The National Highway expansion is carried out jointly with the State govt. It is LDF that bargained for 45 – metre wide national highway. UDF had conflicting views on the topic. It is LDF government that initiated steps for the expansion to happen. The Centre was unwilling to acquire land for prices above other states. The State then stepped in, offering to contribute 25 percent of the land cost. That’s when the project took off. Road from Thalapadi to Kaliyikavila shall be completed in two years. UDF MPs claim they initiated it for the parliament constituency. Now we also have BJP arriving to pick on credits. In short, the Union Minister’s visit is not a benevolent one, said Kodiyeri.
BJP is aiming for communal polarisation. RSS is making purposed effort toward this. And, under the pretext of defending against this, the Islamic extremists are sharpening Islamic fundamentalism Both sides aim to communally polarise the state. UDF is encouraging Islamic fundamentalism - their only focus being number of seats they could possibly grab in the coming Lok Sabha elections. Efforts are on to assemble all Muslim organisations under UDF umbrella - a plan that took shape during last parliament elections and became more apparent during Thrikkakara polls. We shall expose this ploy. The party shall expose to the public the hazardous fallout of these two., said Kodiyeri.
The country itself is going in a dangerous direction. The banning of so many words in the parliament is indication the country is moving toward dictatorship. Soon, what a parliamentarian can speak or cannot too shall be shall be decided for. Even Emergency did not present a situation like this. Parliament is being transformed into mute spectator. The aim is to propagate only what government wishes. People should come to find ways to tackle this, said Kodiyeri.
