THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The Union Budget has ignored Kerala all in all, said CPI(M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. It does not address any demand made by the state. Slashing Kerala’s share of tax proceeds from the Centre is added injustice, he said.
The Union Govt has cut on funds for Employment Guarantee scheme. It has also turned its back on GST compensation, increase of State borrowing limits, setting up AIIMS and all demands so forth put forward by Kerala. The Centre is also neglectful of speeding up national highway expansions in the State and the proposed semi high-speed rail project.
Stake sale in LIC is Centre’s next destruction plan after BSNL. 22 percent in tax and imposition of surcharge on co-operative societies is a big blow to Kerala. It reveals Centre’s agenda to destroy the co-operative sector. The govt announces tax cuts for wealthy corporates while seeking to raise funds for itself from sale of public sector units, said Kodiyeri.
Kerala has never before suffered such huge neglect from the Centre. The Union Budget is bound raise protests in coming days, Kodiyeri said in the press release.
