Vaccine Preference To Persons Going Abroad For Work/Studies: Minister Veena George

Thiruvananthapuram : Persons leaving for work or studies abroad will now fall  under Priority category for vaccination of ages 18 – 45. A notification in this regard has been published by the Health Department, Minister Veena George informed Tuesday.  The government took the urgent decision after several countries now insisted on prior vaccination for foreign arrivals.  11 more categories have been included under the priority segment, the minister said.

The 11 additional priority segment comprises : Field staff at Food and Civil Supplies,  FCI field staff,  field staff at Postal Dept,  field staff employed with Social Welfare dept,  field staff at Women’s Development dept,  field staff at Animal Conservation dept,  field staff in Fisheries dept,  teachers and port staff deputed at evaluation centres for SSLC, HSC and VHSC exams,   seafarers and persons traveling abroad for work or studies.

32 categories were previously listed as Covid frontline fighters and included in the priority section for  18-45 ages vaccination. However, there arose demands for taking in  more sections onto the priority list, hence the current 11 more category update..
