Thiruvananthapuram :As the country quakes with Covid under the more devastating second wave, no supplies appear forthcoming from the centre even as vaccine clinics in states are shuttering one by one. The supply shortage in Kerala is particularly acute. Vaccine stocks have dried up at several vaccination centres across the districts. The statewide stock now tallies to less than 3 lakh doses.
In a letter nine days ago, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan urged the Centre for urgent replenishments. The last consignment to arrive in state happened Sunday. As per Tuesday tally, 5.30 pm, only 2.9 lakh doses remain in stock. The remaining were administered to 1,80,702 persons during the day. Of more than 1000 vaccine centres, only 200 remained functional as on Tuesday.
In Thiruvananthapuram, vaccine camps including one at Jimmy George Indoor Stadium ground to a halt, pasting notices outside that said there would be no further inoculations until further notification. The situation is similarly grim with other mega camps in the state too. .
