Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan offered condolences to families of those killed in the vehicle accident in Vadakancherry, informing thier grief was personally shared.
The accident is shocking to all. Nine persons have died, the reports say. Several are injured. Children traveling on school excursion are among the dead. The cause of accident shall be thoroughly investigated and strict action will follow against those guilty of violating traffic rules, said CM.
The government systems are vigilant and administering essential treatment for those injured. Leaders including minsters are helping with relief measures firsthand, said CM.
The Accident : A tourist bus carrying school children rammed into a KSRTC bus in Vdakkencherry in the early hours of Thursday. The deceased students belong to Baselios Vidyaniketan School in Kochi’s Mulanthuruthy.
The bus had on board 42 students, five teachers and bus crew. The dead include 5 students, 3 KSRTC passengers and one teacher. KSRTC bus had 49 passengers at the time. According to initial reports, the tourister crashed into KSRTC bus while attempting to overtake a car.
